From the October tornados to COVID-19 in the spring, 2019- 20 presented profound challenges, locally and around the world. Fortunately, the school remains on solid financial and operational footing thanks to the support of our community, prudent decision making, and the leadership of our Board of Trustees.
During this past fiscal year, the endowment reached $50 million. The School’s endowment draw supports our faculty and students and enables us to enhance our programmatic offerings. The school established three new named endowments over the course of the year, which will support our students’ social-emotional wellbeing and students with learning differences, and honor the dedication of our faculty.
From an operational perspective, the School has continued to improve efficiency. We completed the implementation of Blackbaud -- a new database system that offers families the ability to access most Greenhill information in one location -- and we installed a new phone system with enhanced functionality. In the spring, we made investments in systems and technology to support our students and teachers during remote learning.
Other highlights from the year include completing the William Shirley Family track, finishing the new entrance monuments, and planning for a new events pavilion on the Griggs Meadow. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were also able to support our families that needed additional financial assistance because of hardships as a result of COVID-19.
Our strong financial position and consistent, deliberate approach to managing our budget have enabled Greenhill to continue to offer an excellent educationdespite financial challenges faced in the spring, including lost revenue from campus rentals and the cancellation of our summer programs. We are incredibly grateful for your enduring support of our students and faculty and your belief in Greenhill’s mission.
