Greenhill School launched the Growing Stronger Together capital campaign in February with a groundbreaking ceremony on the site of the new Rosa O. Valdes STEM + Innovation Center. The $71 million campaign will include the STEM center, athletics enhancements, and additional endowment.
MS/US Quiz Bowl
The Middle and Upper School Quiz Bowl teams saw numerous successes throughout the year, including a strong finish with the Greenhill A Team of Maya Jagsi '26, Aaron Kuang '26, Kate Ponnambalam '26, Evans Senvalds '26 placing third out of 141 teams in the 2022 Middle School National Championship Tournament. This is the highest a Greenhill team has placed at this national tournament. This remarkable team also won their second state championship in a row.
The Greenhill Upper and Middle School Teams had notable performances at the 2022 Texas State Junior Classical League Annual Convention. The Middle School Team made Greenhill history by earning the 1st place trophy in the Silver Division, the division exclusively designated for Middle School and Lower School Programs. Greenhill Upper School JCL students received 2nd place in Sweepstakes Gold Division, the division for high school and upper school programs with 10 to 29 competing students.
Lower School Projects
Lower School students were thrilled to resume favorite culminating projects like the Second Grade City Project where students create cities out of recycled materials, the Fourth Grade Amazing Race where students solved challenges all over campus, and the Primer Play where students performed for their families.
National Merit Recognition
Greenhill School had 10 students selected as Semifinalists and 21 students identified as Commended in the National Merit Scholarship Program. In addition, the College Board recognized three students as National African American Recognition Program Scholars, six students as National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars, and one student as a National Indigenous Recognition Program Scholar. Preschool Learning Exhibitions
Preschool students enjoyed showing their families their project-based learning exhibitions, including their exploration of color and light, which they presented in April.
Commencement
Greenhill School graduated the Class of 2022 at the 72nd Annual Commencement ceremony held at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 4:00 pm. Head of Upper School Trevor Worcester introduced the graduation class and gave welcoming remarks. Hallie Sternblitz delivered a message of gratitude to the Greenhill faculty and staff, Pranav Mukund gave a senior address about how his Greenhill experience shaped who he has become here, and Shruti Siva spoke about what she has learned at Greenhill and her excitement to face new challenges.
