Youth Poet Laureate Winner


Madison Rojas '23, was named Dallas's first-ever Youth Poet Laureate in a special ceremony at Dallas City Hall on April 6, 2022. The Youth Poet Laureate is part of a new program initiated by the Dallas Public Library in conjunction with the annual Express Yourself! poetry competition and Poet Laureate of Dallas position.
 

Coach and Student of the Year


The Lone Star National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) District announced that this year’s Coach of the Year and Student of the Year were both from Greenhill School. Director of Debate Aaron Timmons Jr. was named Coach of the Year and Cameron Kettles ’22 was named Student of the Year. 

National Silver Medalist


Christine Yan '22 received a National Silver Medal in the 2022 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her oil painting "Disconnected." The Awards celebrate creative students, provide a platform of expression for their original work, and recognize the dedication of educators. 

The Little Mermaid


The Little Mermaid was Greenhill’s 50th musical production and involved students in Lower, Middle, and Upper School. Legend Lucinda Carter met with cast and crew before the show and was recognized at the performance for her efforts in founding the musical program. Seven members of the Greenhill musical cast of The Little Mermaid earned nominations for the 2021-2022 Schmidt & Jones Awards. This is the highest number of nominees from Greenhill School. 

ISAS Fine Arts Festival


In April, Greenhill School and Parish Episcopal School partnered to co-host the ISAS Fine Arts festival for local ISAS school. Students enjoyed the return of the program celebrating the arts and the many ways our students perform.  

Debate Team Accomplishments


The Debate team had an exceptional year including the following remarkable accomplishments:  
  • The team of Ashton Higgins ’22, Ashley Shan ’22, and Aimee Stachowiak ’22 won the National Debate Coaches Association National Championship in the World Schools division. The team was undefeated in the tournament and did not lose a single ballot throughout the competition. 
  • Cameron Kettles and Ashley Shan were selected to USA Debate Team. 

Montage's Gold Crown Award


Montage, Greenhill's literary magazine, received a Gold Crown Award, which honors top student publications chosen by members of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Since 1996, the publication has received an impressive 10 Gold Crown Awards and numerous Silver Awards.  

MS Spring Fling


Middle School held their first annual Spring Fling, a celebration of the arts that gave all Middle School arts students an opportunity to perform for their friends and family during a single evening.  

Flutist Takes Third at Nationals


Ayne Park '24 won third place at the National Flute Association 38th Annual High School Soloist Competition, the most prestigious performance competition for high school level flutists in the United States. The competition took place in Chicago at the 2022 NFA Convention on August 11-14, 2022. 

Best Newspaper Finalist


The Evergreen, the student newspaper of Greenhill School, received multiple commendations from The Dallas Morning News in the 2022 High School Journalism Competition, most notably Avery Franks ’22 winning the Sports Feature award and the paper winning the Editorial category. The Evergreen was also selected as a finalist for the best newspaper.  

Photographers Places First Place

Greenhill photography students competed in the 34th Fort Worth Country Day Black & White Photography Contest, taking home multiple honors, including three first-place finishes:  
  • Architecture: 1st Place - Gabriel Rudelman '23
  • Landscape/Cityscape: 1st Place - Charlotte Brown '23
  • Nature: 1st Place - Travis Mann '22
