The 2018-2019 school year concludes my first at Greenhill School, with the theme of
Community — fitting as I reflect on the year. For me, it was a year of immersion, listening, learning, and opportunity. As my title reflects, “advancement” is defined as ‘the process of promoting, developing, or improving a cause or plan.’ I am inspired by the success of our first year, with many goals to come.
It is through the lens of advancement that I view this community. I enjoy opportunities to seek answers and innovation, and in one year we have much to be proud of. We exceeded our Greenhill Fund goal of $1,750,000 thanks to our tremendous Board and volunteer leadership and support from our community of current parents, parents of alumni, alumni, and grandparents .
I am also pleased to report the relaunch of The Fulton Society, our planned giving program focused on future sustainability of our school. Special thanks are due to Nancy & Will Fulton ’68 and Molly Fulton Seelison ’60 & John Seeligson for this new energy and increased awareness of this program. Other highlights included a new named endowment fund —
The Duncan S. Brown and Gavin F. Brown Scholarship Fund, established as a financial aid fund from Lexi and John Eagles. We also received generous gifts to support
track renovations, finish the
batting cage, enhance our MS & LS Science classrooms and makerspace and improve our campus environment with a new events pavilion. Look for more progress in the upcoming school year!
It takes the entire community, from members of the Parent’s Association, to Board of Trustees, Alumni Board members, Athletic Boosters, Arts Guild and beyond. Our mission is demonstrated every day by the work of our parents, grandparents, and alumni who give back in service to this school. Every hour spent volunteering, giving, cheering on, and sharing our story is valued and appreciated. Every gift you give to the Greenhill Fund or in support of the Parents' Association is used to advance our mission, encourage our students, and support tremendous faculty. Your efforts are inspiring and appreciated, and words like "thank you" do not adequately express our gratitude.
The future is bright for Greenhill – and it is because of YOU! We are honored to work side by side with you to advance the mission of Greenhill School and to walk with you as we discover what the future holds.
Sincerely,
Susan Holmes
