As I reflect on the 2018-2019 school year, I am struck by how much we have already accomplished together; the spirit of continual improvement that is propelling us into future; and the overwhelming gratitude I feel at being a part of this diverse, inclusive, inquisitive community.
Over the course of this past year, our students benefited from refurbished spaces in all divisions, from the Preschool makerspace to new classroom furniture and science rooms in the Middle School. We continue to update and enhance our curriculum, most recently through significant revisions to our Lower School math and Upper School science and history programs. We celebrated a record-breaking year for the Greenhill Fund and established a new endowment to support our students with an interest in the arts. We have also started the necessary work of clarifying our policies and procedures and strengthening our systems, which we hope will improve the Greenhill experience for our students and families.
Most important, in the spring, we started our year-long, community-wide strategic planning process. As I have mentioned in prior communications, now is the time to capitalize on the strengths of the school and dream about what Greenhill can be in the future. I am excited to see where this plan takes us.
I am incredibly grateful to be on this journey with all of you. Greenhill cannot function without the dedication and hard work of every employee, parent, trustee, and graduate. Greenhill truly is a team effort, a community, and a family. Thank you for partnering with us to educate the next generation of students, for your generous financial support, and for the many hours you spend volunteering on our campus. We are grateful for all that you do.
Finally, I would like to say a special thanks to the Board of Trustees, especially Board Chair Bruce Sostek, for the guidance you provided during my first year. Your dedication to Greenhill will ensure that we remain healthy and strong for years to come.
